Add Point Loma to the growing list of neighborhoods joining the rapidly expanding “Hold-On-To-Your-Butt” anti-cigarette-litter campaign.
Volunteers from the Point Loma Association, I Love A Clean San Diego and the San Diego Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation installed six ash cans throughout the community Friday. The cylinder-shaped receptacles are strategically placed in areas where smokers are known to frequently flick their butts onto the ground or into the street.
Since 2006, 130 of the ash cans have been installed throughout the county, including in Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, La Jolla, Hillcrest, downtown, North Park, Cardiff and Carlsbad.
